Absolute Elsewhere - Blood Incantation (2024)

Ideated from: some recent releases I’ve been spinning

Blood Incantation is fantastic. Their 2019 release Hidden History Of The Human Race is one of my favorite modern metal albums. Then they made an ambient record to follow it up.

This one is back to being loud and aggressive, but not quite in the same way.

I thought of Pink Floyd several times listening through this. They sort of let new sonic layers emerge from the old, just like Floyd used to. Just like Floyd, if one of Floyd’s sonic layers had been head-crushing death metal.

But if you’re into tech-death-with-synth-solos, or just some great proggy rock, then strap in. This is great.

Tracks I Liked

If you read me here, you know me and epic multi-part song cycles. Gods bless ‘em but I have no idea what the hell either of these stories is about. I’m long past my sit-on-the-bed-and-follow-along-with-the-lyrics stage of my life, so I’ll trust them that the story is good.
