Nine Types Of Light - TV On The Radio (2011)
Discog-ology: Going through an artist’s albums, or at least the ones I haven’t written up yet, in order.
This is one of my favorite albums of this era, and I listened to it a ton. I was happy to put it back on my list when i came across it again.
TVOTR aren’t exactly a pop band. Art rock is probably the best description. Their music is always modern and angular and sleek, but they include horns and soulful vocals to make it sound modern but antique at the same time. Picture Radiohead doing soul covers maybe?
The musicianship is great. There’s nobody that sounds quite like them, and they’ve built a universe of music that exists a bit outside of everything else.
