Channel ORANGE - Frank Ocean (2012)
You’re not hearing anything new here, since this is an acknowledged classic, but this is such a great album.
It has the feel of when I drift off to sleep and get rushes of thoughts flashing by without really sticking. It flows from one sound vignette to the next, all new and modern, but also familiar. The tracks seem like free form jams, except that they’re so meticulously detailed that you know they can’t be.
Tracks I liked:
Sweet Life - sounds slightly more 70s-ish than other tracks here, but great energy
Super Rich Kids - worth listening just for the massive bassline
