Fever Ray - Fever Ray (2009)

(The Nines - looking for some rhyme or reason for what to pick next, i started with a 2019 record and then went back ten years each time.)

This is a very cool record in every sense. I briefly watched a show about Vikings that used the lead track as a title theme. I thought that was odd, but listening now, I do hear some nordic folk vibes.

Some of these are basically tamed down, chilled out dance tracks; the build and release energy just stretched out further. Others have more of a pop structure and kind of a Depeche Mode feel to them.

There’s beauty here, even if it is a little hazy and bucolic.

Tracks I liked

If I had a Heart - if there’s a track here you know, it’s probably this one.

Seven - an earnest lyric and a straightforward structure

Triangle Walks - more of that build-and-release energy. very effectively done.

I’m Not Done - I don’t know if they’re auto-tuning the vocal or if they really can make their voice do that, but it’s cool.
