Fugitive Light And Themes Of Consolation - Andrew Wasylyk (2020)
This is a guy from Scotland who does some very cool, chill instrumental music. I’m not really sure what to call this. Generally it matches what you’d call “downtempo” but that music is often electronic. This seems to be pretty organic. It’s free-flowing, but I wouldn’t call it jazz. It reminds me in places of Bremer / McCoy and Emancipator, some go-to concentration music for me.
Labels don’t really matter, of course. It’s beautiful music that reveals new colors every time you listen that you hadn’t noticed the time before.
Tracks I Liked
Last Sunbeams of Childhood - sunny and languid, with a jazzy guitar melody
Everywhere Something Sublime - a piano arpeggio that gets color added gradually. A horn section underlaid on the last half is very effective.
In Balgay Silhouettes - methodical and kind of spooky.
