Heavy Sun - Daniel Lanois (2021)
I guess I wrote up Lanois not too long ago, but this is a newer album that was a victim of my short attention span era. I figured I’d get it in the list.
Lanois lives in two worlds: the slick, abstract electronics of his work with Brian Eno and others; and the old-time gospel and roots music he grew up with.
This is his “pandemic record,” and he does a nice job of blending the organic beauty with the more artificial sheen.
The lyrics are uplifting and the music celebrates being alive.
