Rosalia - Los Angeles (2017)

Sometimes I just fall in love with a record even though I don’t have much background in it. Rosalia’s recent couple of albums have been latin pop, but that’s something I know little enough about. Then there’s this debut of her’s, which is made up of the various types of traditional Spanish song called Flamenco. I know next to nothing about this, but it’s a great record.
The instrumentation is sparse, with mostly solo guitar. The songs are serious, whether you read the lyrics or not. It’s an interesting debut considering that she was much more pop-oriented on the next couple of releases.
