Around The World In A Day - Prince (1985)

Ideated from: another run through the inbox

Prince could do anything, and he pretty much did. Maybe he felt he was in danger of becoming a rock star, so he made a record of tight, funky, trippy psych-funk. And then it made him an even bigger rock star.

Fanciful and oblique lyrics give his vocal range a workout, but he keeps the backing tracks oddly constrained and metronomic compared to some of his 80s work. But there are still lots of exotic flourishes that make it great to listen to.
