Braveface - Esser (2009)

I like to feel validated, and who doesn’t? So when I hear a record I like, and then I look up reviews and find that other people like it, it’s nice. Similarly, I like when I find the review by the terminally hipsterish Pitchfork and they give it a poor grade–while talking more about the guy’s hair than the music–I feel like I must be on the right track.

This is not exactly the apotheosis of modern art music, but it’s a fun album that’s well-recorded. I got some high-energy tracks as well as some more laid-back tracks that are very pleasant.

Tracks I Liked

Leaving Town - kind of a fun, Clash-y banger

Braveface - straight pop

Satisfied - for those who like a bit of latin flavor with your ska

Biscuits For Cerberus
Flipiron
weird, literate, and weirdly literate
