Marlowe 3 - Marlowe (2022)
Ideated from: ending the year with some of my favorites of 2022 that I hadn’t written up yet.
Producer L’Orange is a recent discovery for me. His collab with Namir Blade was one of my favorite hip hop records of last year, and this one is on the short list for 2022.
Marlowe pairs L’Orange with MC Solemn Brigham, whose flow lends itself well to staying on top of the frenetic beats.
L’Orange builds his beats with samples or recordings of an endless array of organs, surf guitars, soul vocals, and jazz horn charts. They all change and morph from track to track, building an amazingly cluttered but never confused sound space.
It’s non-stop dancable hip hop greatness.
