[Love Symbol] - Prince (1992)
Ideated from: figured I’d sneak in a favorite album that starts with a symbol.
A favorite album that starts with a symbol. How could it be anything else? Well maybe Zeppelin 4 where the runes are technically the title, but that’s already written up anyway.
I once said that the Black Album was my favorite Prince album, but I was obviously lying. It’s this one. It’s always this one.
Such a perfect summation of everything he was: pop, funk, rap, soul, rock, compassion, libido, vulnerability, and spirituality. There was nothing quite like him, and there’s nothing quite like this record.
Tracks I Liked
My Name Is Prince - anyone else spouting this kind of stuff would sound like ridiculous braggadocio, but when Prince does it you buy it.
Sexy MF - a James Brown-style jam, only dirtier. That sax solo. damn.
The Max - mad Minneapolis funk
The Continental - channeling Sly Stone while adding his own seasoning
7 - one of his last giant radio hits, but every bit as good as the others.
