Documerica - Ethel (2015)

Ethel is a thoroughly modern-minded string quartet who love to blaze new trails.

This is (I gather) the soundtrack to an audiovisual work that centered around a 1970s EPA effort to photograph and document disappearing natural resources and their effects.

The group runs through new compositions by several composers (including Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate, who works with my local orchestra on multiple projects)

Tracks I Liked

Mary Ellen Childs’ Ephemeral Geometry is my own highlight. It’s structured like a complete string quartet you might expect from the classical tradition, but it’s quite inventive and adventurous.
