ONoffON - Mission Of Burma (2004)
22 years between albums isn’t a record or anything, but it’s an interesting side note. Mission of Burma were underground legends of the 80s, with a profound influence on a lot of artists but only one LP and a handful of other releases to their name.
Then they got back together in another era and ended up releasing 3 fantastic full-lengths, making them much more than an 80s nostalgia act.
None of this is radically different than something they might have put out in the early 80s. As with several of their intervening side-projects, they play 80s postpunk as if Nirvana and Green Day had never existed. But wow, do they do it well.
Tracks I Liked
The Setup - an urgent kick-off
What We Really Were - a little more tuneful but just a raw
Fever Moon - Has kind of a blues shuffle feel to it
