I Want More - Donny McCaslin (2023)
An Epic family roadtrip has left me with not a lot of listening time or writing time. I’m really just jotting some notes on what I had going this week.
McCaslin has been around a long time, but even though I’m somewhat dialed into the wiggier side of jazz I wasn’t aware of him until his band featured on David Bowie’s swan song Black Star.
The group has a very mature and jazz-in-concept-if-not-in-music kind of sound that channels the dynamics of modern electronic music and rock.
