Reign In Blood - Slayer (1986)
An Epic family roadtrip has left me with not a lot of listening time or writing time. I’m really just jotting some notes on what I had going this week.
One I hadn’t listened to in a long time. I was never as big a fan of Slayer as I was of Anthrax and Metallica, but this has kind of been a soundtrack to a lot of things in my life as well.
I suspect kids don’t really get the whole “satanic panic” thing that was happening in the 80s, so that part probably seems kitschy and goofy, but of course at a time when there were Congressional hearings about the moral panic du jour it was a bold reaction to go “full satan.”
I think most people younger than me who are into Slayer are probably taken with Dave Lombardo, one of metal’s greatest drummers.
Regardless, this one holds up extremely well and is still well worth a listen.
