Dream In Blue - Bronwyn Davies (2012)

Not a whole lot to tell you about this one. Davies seems to have 3 records from more than ten years ago, and not much since. I came across it back in my Rdio days (streaming service I used before Spotify) when I used to regularly plumb the depths of the new releases.

It struck me as sounding like a more organic, folk-oriented Portishead, and her voice is certainly similar to Beth Gibbons’. But there’s a lot to this record and I still enjoy going back to it.

Tracks I Liked

Pandora’s Box - a sweet an heartbreaking tune. You can hear 30 seconds of this and hear the Portishead association.

One - the Nilsson song (notably covered by 3 Dog Night and several others) gets an excellent treatment here that fits well with the originals.
