Laugh Track - The National (2023)
Two National albums in a few months. The presence of brand new songs when I saw then live this summer suggested maybe that was going to happen, but I was still pleasantly suprised at how good it is.
Hardly just the b-sides from Frankenstein, this is a very different, slightly angrier album. More intent, more beat-driven, and more acerbic. But just barely. This band can’t help being elegant. It’s in their bones.
Tracks I Liked
Alphabet City - just your average National classic
Laugh Track - great ballad
Space Invader - swirling and whimsical
