Everybody's Somebody's Nobody - Fred Frith and Darren Johnston (2016)

Avant garde guitar improviser Frith has released and contributed to hundreds of records (this one being the only one I’ve written up here, but why not plug it again?)

This record with frequent collaborator Johnston has only the two of them on it, interacting nicely. They each contribute a bit and complement each other.

Frith is really good at making guitar not sound like guitar, although I’m pretty sure I hear some actual percussion in places. His abilities are used to great effect here while Johnston plays expertly controlled high-end trumpet lines over it.
