Paris 3/21/2024 - Nils Frahm (2024)

ideated from: concert week: a bunch of YT concert videos I’ve saved to a playlist called “good concerts,” which is a bit deceiving since I haven’t listened to most of them.

Frahm is the kind of modern composer I love. He’s just as at home with a piano as he is in front of a gigantic bank of modular synth equipment, an orchestra hall as with a club. He is one of the composers that’s breaking down the stuffy barriers between “art music” and more innovative sounds and ideas.

His music ranges from “calm” to “did I accidentally hit mute?” but it’s always elegant and atmospheric without sounding wandering or disorganized.
