The Killion Floor - Orgone (2007)

Orgone is described as a “deep funk revival” band. They’ve evolved their sound into much more original territory over the years (to the point that I didn’t realize this was the same band I’d liked on their last couple), but the essence of it is still making new music that you’d mistake for somebody’s 70s soul collection.

This early album has their influences on their sleeves, so to speak.

Tracks I Liked

Sophisticated Honky - starts with a bit of a blues jam, and then the horns drop

A Wot - flutes and basslines that could have easily been Beastie Boys samples

Funky Nassau - an actual 70s funk cover among a bunch of tracks that sound like 70s funk covers.

Crabby Ali - a joyous, skittering romp
