Wall Of Eyes - The Smile (2024)

As a cis-het white man of a certain age, I have been super into Radiohead for a long time.

This is the second effort by Greenwood and Yorke’s side hustle (o_O) and it’s an interesting sideshow.

Greenwood is the star of Radiohead to me, and he cuts loose in The Smile in ways he usually doesn’t anymore in the mothership. He loves to weave odd harmonies and rhythms into his playing to spit all over what his bandmates are doing.

Tracks I Liked

Read The Room - paranoid and nervous and just a little dissonant

Friend of a Friend - mostly a more conventional Radiohead song but a little more spare.

Bending Heretic - If this album were a single, this would be the A-side and everything else would be the flip
