Ballroom Ghosts - Jim Copperthwaite (2017)

I don’t know if I’ve ever come across an album that so perfectly accomplishes what it sets out to do.

Writing this album, Jim Copperthwaite became fascinated with the idea of the residue of the people and music that once filled now often empty spaces

We have the dance music the ghosts might be dancing to in the empty ballrooms and halls of the world. It’s gorgeous, haunting, and invigorating.

There’s a romantic flavor to music, but it’s still thoroughly modern. We get quiet piano pieces along with strings and percussion and ghostly choral touches.
