Oghneya - Ferkat Al Ard (1978)
Habibi Funk works to reissue great albums from the arab world that might otherwise be lost to time.
This one was self-released on cassette at the time, but like a lot of things in Lebanon in this era, it got swallowed up in the chaos of civil war.
You get a lovely mix of smooth bossa sounds with Arabic intstrumentation and some jazzy structures. The lyrics are taken from palestinian and lebanese poets of the time.
Tracks I Liked
Oghneya - slowly building and beautiful
Matar Naem - a gorgeous tune
