Puzzle - Dada (1992)

Quality or nostalgia: was younger me onto something, or just on something?

Dada had a brief run in the 90s, and didn’t really get any momentum. This first record of theirs, however, is a bit of a lost classic.

Tight, skillful trio arrangements and odd narrative lyrics. A sound that was something like T-Rex filtered through the Stone Roses.

So is it Quality or Nostalgia?

I played this record a lot, and it’s still great.

Tracks I Liked

Dizz Knee Land - a minor hit, and a great tune

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow - Feels like it’s going to be a cautionary tale of a life of excess, like the Eagles’ Life In The Fast Lane, except it just sort of ends before the caution.

Posters - a wicked, groovy psych burner with a Gene Krupa big band drum beat

Who You Are - I’d forgotten about this one. Funky and twitchy.
