The Experience of Repetition As Death - Clarice Jensen (2020)
I would have sworn I’d written this up before but I guess not. It was one I listened to in the heart of the pandemic lockdown, and I found it calming and reassuring.
An atmospheric assembly of droning cello, sampled and overlaid with more cello. She varies her attack just enough that there are several different textures in the layers. Even when it gets spooky and unsettling, it’s still a wonderful listen.
A lovely, if not altogether happy, piece of thinking work.
