Maria - Andrey Kiritchenko (2024)

I love how much this blogging project has let me learn about music, but even better is when I learn about other things that intersect with it. This is a tribute to Ukranian artist Maria Prymachenko. While she’s quite well-known, it’s all new to me. Kiritchenko says:

At the same time, the colorful works of Maria Prymachenko are devoid of any pathos, they are the creative expressions of an eternal child who looks at different aspects of life with a virginity, free from rules and prejudices.

And that would sum up Kiritchenko’s approach to the music as well. It’s whimsical and honest, full of sounds that would seem basic in other contexts but work extremely well here.

I couldn’t find any mention of whether the cover image is acutally Prymachenko’s work or not, but it’s a nice example of the style.
