This is exquisitely calm and measured music that would be entirely ambient if not for the vocal samples (in Chinese, I assume) that underpin most of it.
Signalwave is an offshoot of vaporwave that is also called “broken transmission” music: The idea is that you’re hearing bits and pieces of something beamed in from elsewhere. While this release is highly touted as an example of signalwave, it strikes me as being more composed and coherent than most.
The excellent YT channel Pad Chennington has an intro to signalwave video that mentions this one specifically. It’s a good place to start learning more, as his videos often are.
