No Cities To Love - Sleater-Kinney (2015)

Ten Years Gone: stuff that was in my January 2015 rotation

After a string of great records up through 2005, the ladies took a decade off. After that much time, you would have hoped that they got back together with new directions in mind, and I think that’s apparent from the drop.

Still noisy and confrontational, the band is much more structured and organized here, I think. Maybe a little more conventional, but not in a bad way.

Tracks I Liked

Fangless - urgent and forceful, as always

Surface Envy - non-stop rollercoaster

Bury Our Friends - sounds like Franz Ferdinand getting chainsawed
