Cabezon - Cirilo Fernandez (2023)
Pleasant–if non-descript–piano trio jazz.
The group does a nice job of playing off each other. The spaces carved out for each soloist tend to blend into each other, with less of a “chorus” than you might expect for a modern jazz sound.
Fernandez’ playing is a little more chromatic than most, hopping in and out of his bass player’s key pretty readily. He does have a great feel for the dramatic.
Tracks I Liked
Vofi - piano-centric and hoppin.
Bradley - very chill and pleasant
Cabezon - a little more lively than most of the record, with some great start-stop rhythms
