A Quiet Storm - Smokey Robinson (1975)

The title track would be the namesake of a popular radio format of music that sounds like this: sophisticated, jazzy, smooth R&B and soul.

Smokey himself was an accomplished artist by this point. The Miracles (or Smokey and the Miracles) had been a foundational band for Motown Records. This was an early album on his own. He downplayed the r&b jam sounds of Motown and the Funk Brothers and concentrated on softer and more sultry side of his music.
