OK Computer - Radiohead (1997)

Discog-ology: Going through an artist’s albums, or at least the ones I haven’t written up yet, in order. Hopefully will be about once a week.

This one of those “finding another gear” sort of records, and one of my all time favorites.

The band had been successful enough to be able to have control of what they did next, and they delivered a breakthrough that changed rock music in a very profound way.

This record is full of the seemingly effortless mix of live instruments and studio trickery that we take for granted in the 20s, but sounded like something from another universe in 1997.

Tracks I Liked

Subterranean Homesick Alien - a great little travelogue of visiting earth

Exit Music (For A Film) - a devestatingly effective tune

Karma Police - a signature song

Electioneering - i recall the band playing this one on multiple tv talk show appearances, i suspect because it was a more 90s-rock-band-sounding track that wouldn’t alienate the squares. Solid, tho
