Return To Cookie Mountain - TV On The Radio (2006)

Discog-ology: Going through an artist’s albums, or at least the ones I haven’t written up yet, in order.

The band didn’t need a lot runway to take off. This second album is full of the signature sounds of TV On The Radio.

If you’re a sucker for sonic texture, like me, this is a powerhouse of a record. It mixes smooth harmonic bass with dirty guitar fuzz and, falsetto vocals, and multiple styles of percussion.

If there’s a criticism of this compared to later albums, it’s that all the tracks sound a bit similar. It’s all amazing, but they still didn’t have a ceiling.

Tracks I Liked

Hours - great lyric, great bassline; a classic

Wolf Like Me - post-hardcore in all the best ways

Let The Devil In - manages to mix a marching band beat with the arrow-straight rock
