Allegory & Self - Psychic TV (1988)
Genesis P-Orridge was in Throbbing Gristle (o__O), an outfit that I have filed under “important but nearly unlistenable.” He also created a lot of art that sort of loosely intersected with music. But for a good chunk of its time, his latter-day band Psychic TV turned out some very good psychedelic pop.
This album is the one I had the easiest time finding a way into.
Tracks I Liked
Godstar - a tribute to Brian Jones that sounds very much like a Jones-era Stones song
Just Like Arcadia - throwback 60s party music that also sounds a lot like contemporary Manchester party music.
Starlit Mire - more what you might expect when I say “80s performance art music from a guy who was in Throbbing Gristle”
