Midnight Features Vol 2 Made Flesh - Lilacs & Champagne (2015)
Consisting two of the main members of post-rock outfit Grails (o_O), this project seems to do the exact same thing only using samples and programmed beats rather than live instruments.
It’s plenty doomy and eerie, just like their day job band, but has a bit more of a hip hop feel to it. The group takes inspiration from old European film soundtracks and library music, chopping it up for better effect. An imaginary soundtrack to a film that doesn’t exist.
It only clocks in at 29 minutes, although Vol 1 is even shorter so I went with this one.
