Daddy's Home - St Vincent (2021)

Another curve ball in the Annie Clark catalog. This one isn’t really “Annie’s soul record” but it kind of feels that way in places. The songs are a lot more organic, depending less on jagged guitar and bombastic vocal treatments and more on live-in-the-room drums and organ.

The songs are as smart as ever, with some introspective themes that she maybe has covered over with irony and extra cleverness in the past.
