Rust Never Sleeps - Neil Young & Crazy Horse (1979)

Young wanted to capture the live energy of concert performances but without sacrificing sound quality. He ended up starting from live recordings of these new songs and then overdubbing and cleaning them up in the studio afterwards.

Much like young’s whole career, it’s a record divided between live and studio, between acoustic and electric, between beautiful optimism and bleak nihilism.

Tracks I Liked

Thrasher - the beautiful

Powderfinger - the bleak

Welfare Mothers - Neither, really. Just a wickedly funny and rockin tune
