Watch It Die - Home Front (2025)
some 2025 releases I hadn’t gotten to yet
When I’m going through new releases, I sometimes just listen to the first track (more often the first couple minutes of the first track). That would have been a problem for this. The lead track is kind of uninspired mediumcore pop punk that isn’t very memorable.
When I got to the second track, I was rewarded with a tight, rocking, synth-driven attack that’s something like The Cure on steroids.
The rest of it hovers in between those two poles. Sometimes it works really well and sometimes it sounds pretty uninspiring.
It’s not a matter of hating it or anything; I like plenty of music with the same elements. It’s just pretty predictable. When they do throw in something interesting and unexpected it can be exciting.
Tracks I Liked
New Madness - I love the keyboard bit here
Between The Waves - a little wide open pixies whimsy on the chorus
