You Make Me Real - Brandt Bauer Frick (2010)
A German trio of mostly-acoustic instruments who play fast-paced electronic- and dancefloor-inspired tunes. It ends up sounding a bit like 20th century minimalism, but also has plenty of lively beats and expressive jazzy runs.
The sound is driving and insistent but never overwhelming. The group does a nice job of keeping the quick pace while also keeping it interesting and human.
This debut album is the one I know the best, and I enjoyed listening to it again. This definitely gets grouped in my head as “modern music” even though it’s 16 years old. Oh well.
The whole thing sounds similar enough that “Tracks I Like” wouldn’t do you much good. If you like any of it, you’ll like all of it, though Bop and Caffeine are standouts
