Songs In The Key Of Life - Stevie Wonder (1976)

Maybe I’ve been getting off in the weeds trying to find more obscure or challenging things to listen to. Sometimes you just need great songs performed by a top-notch entertainer. This was one of three Album Of The Year Grammy winners for Wonder in the 70s, and they’re all deserving. Paul Simon won one of the other years, and thanked Wonder for not making an album that year. That’s the kind of force Stevie was in this era.

Tracks I Liked

Sir Duke - ostensibly about Duke Ellington, who died shortly before this was recorded

I Wish - some fun and wicked nostalgia

Pastime Paradise - Coolio’s reworking of it is a massive generational hit, and this original is better in every way. Fight me.
