Paid In Full - Eric B & Rakim (1987)
You know this one is old school because it’s basically an entire record of a rapper rapping about how good a rapper he is.
Adele doesn’t sing songs about what a good singer she is. Coldplay never made a song about what a good band they are (although Nickelback kinda did, and for what it’s worth Manowar definitely did)
Still, braggadocio and pathological ego are the currency of rap, and I’ve reviewed (and liked) several records primarily about how much cocaine has been sold, so this is more positive than that.
Either way, it’s lots of fun.
