(Who’s Afraid Of) The Art Of Noise? - The Art Of Noise (1984)
Sound collage / cut-up stuff with artsy pretensions, but mostly poppy. Art Of Noise were studio wonks who had a million ways to build artificial sound worlds way before most artists were thinking that way. That makes it more visionary than actually “good,” imo, but it was a solid listen.
A few years later, these guys would be responsible for introducing my generation to Tom Jones, for which I am eternally grateful.
Tracks I Liked
Close (To The Edit) - a pretty bangin tune that had a pretty bizarre-ass video (even in a decade famous for bizarre-ass videos)
Moments In Love - a very pleasant little movie-soundtrack-sounding thing that, at over 10 minutes, ends a little too long after it’s done ifyouknowwhatimsayin
