1994 was the best year in music history, and i will fight you about it.
srsly tho, 1994 was a perfect storm for me: voracious musical tastes, some spending cash, a job at the student radio station (briefly, before I got fired for not showing up), declining interest in being a college student (also due to not showing up), no girlfriend to distract me, and the ability to both read about and mail-order CDs over the internet (RIP CDNow.com). Beyond my personal circumstances, the record industry was booming, multiple genres were going through prime eras of their history, new forms of music were being born and popularized, and artists could get their music in the hands of more people than was ever possible before. There were a billion things to listen to, and I basically wanted to listen to all of it; while that was never really possible, in 1994 I made a pretty good run and it formed a big part of my listening experience. This week: just a tiny sampling of the awesomeness that came out in 1994
