I Survived, It's Over - Rich Ruth (2022)
Ideated from: some new releases I’ve been playing heavily
This guy plays some tripped-out but always laid-back cosmic jazz. There’s an ambient layer to it, but most ambient music doesn’t feature saxophones and guitar shredding. So it’s not your average deep listening sort of record. There is a lot to it.
Tracks I Liked
Older But Not Less Confused - felt that title viscerally
Desensitization and Reprocessing - there’s an edge here between comforting and ominous that I really like
Thou Mayest - a good build up that sounds like it’s going to get furious, but stays contained throughout
Doxology - Just beautiful
