Odd Soul - Mutemath (2011)

Ideated from: my best-of-month lists for October over the years. also on the Oct 2011 list: We Were Promised Jetpacks, Lugansky playing Liszt

The only record I’ve listened to by Mutemath, apparently quite different from their others. Fine by me; I really like this one.

Tight, howling, rocking, and even funky in places. It’s slickly produced but has plenty of grit underneath. A nice little kick in the head this morning.

Tracks I Liked

Prytania - awesomely driving funk

All Or Nothing - a pleasant change of pace from the louder stuff

Allies - an air-drum workout
