Stranger Than Fiction - Bad Religion (1994)
Ideated from: albums that have a track called “Stranger Than Fiction”
Bad Religion have been doing similar work for a very long time, without changing up their formula very much. But they don’t really need to. Their classic harmony-laden shout-along brand of west coast punk is pretty close to timeless. And you can always count on them for brainy, literate anger.
This was their major label debut, and while it does sound more polished and balanced than some of the earlier releases, they didn’t tame their approach much at all. This was a time when major labels wanted their releases to be more raw and confrontational on purpose. But hey, it was the best year in music history…
Is “Stranger Than Fiction” a good track?
It is a straight up banger
Tracks I Liked
Incomplete - a guided missile to kick off the record
The Handshake - typically pessimistic, but well-said
Inner Logic - modern life is rubbish
