Ockham's Blazer - Ockham's Blazer (2022)

Ideated from: some inbox albums whose only common thread is being self-titled

I don’t remember where I heard about these guys from, but I’ve been playing this record a lot this year.

Thoroughly funky jazz with a New Orleans flourish (though based in NYC, Toronto, and Vienna, their bio says), but with some great rap flow and a lot of dancefloor vibes.

A standout for me this year.

Tracks I Liked

Prison Of Gold - sounds more electronic and dance-based than a lot of the record, but it doesn’t take long to get the hip-hop-and-horns blueprint established

Dirtbell - a quality underground rap jam

Blood’s Port - a glorious bass rumble that sounds great at high volume
