The year in Groove 2022
I listened this year to a lot of stuff without an agenda, as I always do. Not everything I put in my head so I can blog about it. My usual m.o. is just to put music on thats makes me bob my head, or bounce a bit if I’m standing. Even with those basic requirements, there’s an endless firehose of great music that has a hard time getting noticed in the marketplace.
So here’s some of the rest: not-so-concentration, not-so-loud, not-so-sophisticated tracks that kept me busy and happy in 2022.
LOGGERHEAD - Wu Lu
One of my favorites of the year, for sure.
As Above, So Below - Sampa The Great
A great talent I only just started into this year.
Aethiopes - Billy Woods
This was the year of really finding out how much Billy Woods loves to work, and how great most of it is. Two albums under his own name this year, coming in hot off last year’s fantastic Haram with partner ELUCID
Antimai - The Dear Hunter
A late-year entry that I’ve really enjoyed. Proggy post-rock with some interesting lyrics.
