Fire - The Bug (2021)

Ideated from: things I missed and only picked up on when they made somebody else’s best-of-the-year lists.

The Bug is a London producer who has put together several albums of very tight club music, if you–like Londoners, apparently–like being claustrophobic and kind of freaked out the whole time you’re in the club.

It’s all well recorded, although the cover design kind of gives it away that this is unrelentingly monolithic: dark and brooding, with very little variation. But if you’re into a wall-to-wall application of doom, paranoia, and dancehall-style raggae chatter, then this is the release for you.
