Casus Luciferi - Watain (2003)

Early second-wave black metal, with a lot of punk energy. Watain was a standout band in a Scandinavian metal scene that was wild and violent enough to make me type the following sentence: No one in Watain apparently murdered anyone, although they didn’t make much effort to distance themselves from the Norwegian church-burning terror attacks.

So if you don’t mind overtly anti-Christian lyrics praising Satan, and a serious guilt-by-association problem with a lot of problematic shit, then here’s your guys. But really, you can’t understand what they’re saying, and if you don’t have that context it’s just a kick-ass black metal record. So either skip this one, or maybe pretend I didn’t say anything.
