Black Origami - Jlin (2017)

Jlin is Jerrilynn Patton, an Indiana-based producer with a next-level sense of rhythm and structure.

This is tagged as a Chicago dance subgenre called “footwork,” not a tag I’ve used on here afaik. It’s very intricate with a lot of drum sounds and chopped up samples that work rhythmically rather than melodically.

It’s all designed to keep your feet moving.

Tracks I Liked

Kyanite - the most basic statement of what she’s doing here

Carbon 7 (161) - chopped up vocals lead the attack

1% - collab with Holly Herndon, whose recent project Jlin also contributed to.
